Another Calhoun Greatest Generation solider has died. Ernie Hartshorn, 90, of Grantsville, served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a Machinist Mate, 3rd Class aboard the U.S.S. Cahaba.

Following the war he married Mary Helen Wolfe Hartshorn, now deceased, and was employed as a welder by Hope Gas and retired from Consolidated Natural Gas with 42 years of service.

He was a longtime community volunteer in Calhoun, active with a number of organizations.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Stump Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
