CALHOUN GRAND JURY INDICTS FIVE

(01/08/2017)
The Grand Jury of Calhoun County met on January 3 in Grantsville. Judge Anita Harold Ashley presided.

After hearing cases presented by Prosecutor Shannon S. Johnson and after due deliberation, the Grand Jury returned the following indictments:

Leon Kerby, 30, was indicted on two counts of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a Felony. This case was investigated by Senior Trooper D.C. Moore of the West Virginia State Police.

Nathaniel Lane, 27, was indicted on one count of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, a felony; one count of No Insurance, a misdemeanor; one count of No Registration, a misdemeanor; and one count of Driving on a Suspended License, a misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Trooper B. K. Shingleton of the West Virginia State Police following a traffic stop.

Bobby Lee Persinger, II, 45, was indicted on one count of Distribution of Obscene Matter to a Minor, a felony. It is alleged that Mr. Persinger displayed a pornographic movie to a juvenile on August 22, 2016. This case was investigated by Trooper B. K. Shingleton of the West Virginia State Police.

Carl Wilson, 34, and Ivan Wise, 54, were indicted on one count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and one count of Conspiracy, a felony. It is alleged that the pair sold methamphetamine to a Confidential Informant and former Grantsville Chief of Police Andrew Walker while he was in plain clothes.

Indictments returned against individuals are merely charges at this time and are not indications of guilt. All the above Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
