The Sears Store at Stumptown has been a mainstay since 1959, open about 58 years.

Part of the mainstay has been Lois Jean Sears, who operated the emporium with her husband Delbert.

She passed on October 1, 2016 at 80.

It would be fascinating to know how many customers have passed through the businesses door, a combination grocery, gas station and garage, the couple proudly serving the community these many years.

The family said together they always supported of local schools and churches with a very giving spirit, rarely turning away anyone in need.

Jean loved the outdoors, working with her cattle and enjoyed the many hours spent maintaining their farm.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Harley F. Siers and Thelma Siers (Godfrey): brother, Harry F. Siers; and sister, Betty J. Miller.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Cathy L. Sears of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Janet K. Sears of Mineral Well, W.Va.; two sisters, Carolyn S. Collins (Tony) of Stumptown and Patricia Vannoy (John) of Mineral Wells; and several nieces and nephews.

She will be buried in the nearby Collins Cemetery.
