FORMER SPENCER RADIO BROADCASTER CHARLES MARLOWE -2016 Inductee WV Radio Hall Of Fame

(09/20/2016)
Membership in the West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame is growing by eight, with former Spencer radioman Charles Marlow being added in 2016.

Locally, he was known as "Charlie Ray."

Marlow wore man hats throughout the years, including being the engineer at Spencer's WSPZ/WVRC station. He served as chief engineer at WJLS Radio in Beckley for many years and worked at numerous WV stations. He also was the engineering planner of the project that put WTNJ on the Beckley airwaves.

Charlie Marlow was working at the Spencer station in the 1960s during the same time Tom T. Hall was there, and when Marlow decided to get married, they did so at the station.

Charlie 'Ray' Marlow married his wife Amy, with Tom T. Hall standing in as best man, right in the production room of the station, something Charlie never tired of telling.
