LITTLE MAKING AMAZING IMPROVEMENT - Injured When Gas Meter Explodes In Face

(12/26/2002)
A Calhoun man who was critically injured a few weeks ago when a gas meter exploded in his face is "making progress, aware of people and talking."

Gene Little of Grantsville has been transferred to Healthsouth Western Hills Regional Rehab Hospital in Parkersburg after extensive treatment at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Little, an employee of Creston Oil and Gas, suffered severe trauma to the head, with most of his facial bones shattered, according to a family spokesperson.

He reportedly took food by mouth for the first time this week

"He is improving amazingly, although his vision still has some impairment," said a family member.

A fire completely destroyed the home of Little's mother prior to his accident. Geraldine Little and two other sons lost their belongings in the blaze, which also destroyed the home of Linda Sampson, the dwellings located on Sinking Springs Road near Route 16 at Mount Zion.
