Few details have been released regarding a riot last weekend at Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods.

Officials are saying that seven inmates of the Flatwoods jail face charges following the riot.

Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety Assistant Secretary Lawrence Messina says the inmates have been placed in administrative segregation following last weekend's incident.

Messina says the inmates damaged a day room, indicating the riot was stopped after jail staff used non-lethal smoke munitions in the day room.

Members of the State Police Special Operations Division also responded to the incident.

Messina says jail officials are continuing to assess the cost of the damage.

No staff was injured.
