OFFICIALS SAY 500 ROANE CO. HOMES DAMAGED OR DESTROYED

According to the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Roane County officials estimate more than 500 homes there were severely damaged or destroyed by the June mega-flood.

State news reports on Roane damage has been slow, likely because of access, phone and power out.

Calhoun County dodged the bullet of rain that struck many counties up to 9" within 24 hours.
