Jo Ann Nicholas, 65 - Morgantown

Jo Ann Nicholas age 65 of Morgantown WV passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 18, 1950 in Grantsville, WV a daughter of the late Paul and Delta Godfrey Hayhurst.

Jo Ann had retired as a registered nurse from the Harrison County Health Department. Jo Ann enjoyed the outdoors, walking, gardening and served on the WV Botanic Garden Board. She also enjoyed antiquing and bowling. She had been an active member of the Clarksburg Baptist Church for 24 years prior to moving to Morgantown in 2006. She was a member of Avery United Methodist at the time of her death.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 46 years Gary Nicholas; one son, Jason Bryan Nicholas of Sydney, Australia; mother-in-law, Lenora Nicholas; sister-in-law, Myra Lowe and husband Kenneth Martis; a niece, Elizabeth Frederick and her husband William; and great nephew Samuel Frederick.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Hayhurst and an infant brother Hoyt Hayhurst.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and 9 West for all of their compassion and care for Jo Ann and her family in their time of need.

Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown from 3-8 pm Sunday and on Monday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Rev. Jenny Williams and Rev. David Hulme officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Grantsville, WV.
