Gone are Tygart's Valley and Tug Valley from the 2016 Calhoun High School football schedule.

But the biggest news of all is that the Red Devils are not opening with Gilmer County. Instead the Red Devils are opening on the road at Wirt County August 26.

The Red Devils won't play Gilmer County until the eighth game of the season when they travel to Glenville on October 14.

The Red Devils, who finished at 5-5 last season, shed themselves of two distant opponents when they dropped Tug Valley and Tygart's Valley picking up Webster County and Ritchie County, both of which are dropping from Class AA to Class A this fall.

The Red Devils also will play Sherman, Doddridge, Tyler Consolidated, South Harrison, St. Marys and Clay. Clay is the only Class AA team on the Red Devils schedule.
