Francis L. McKown, 79 - Little Hocking OH formerly of Spencer

Francis L. McKown, 79 of Little Hocking, Ohio, formerly of Spencer, WV, died May 10, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV as the result of a fall.

He was born July 11, 1936 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of the late Laurant and Darling Sheppard McKown.

He graduated from Spencer High School with the class of 1952. He was a licensed pilot and his favorite pastime was flying his airplane and spending time with his pilot friends. He served six years with the West Virginia Air National Guard.

Francis was a good friend and neighbor and was always willing to help a friend. He will be greatly missed.

He retired from Shell Chemical with 30 years service. He also worked for approximately 15 years at the NAPA stores in Spencer and Pt. Pleasant, WV; worked as an aircraft mechanic at the former Stewart Airport in Parkersburg, WV.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Kay Payne McKown; sister, Virginia McKown Knopp of Reedy, WV, and his four legged companions, Noah and Star.

Per his wishes the body is to be cremated and there will be no visitation. A time for a Memorial Service has not been determined.

Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre is assisting the family with arrangements.
