Iwana Fern Deel, 88 - Parkersburg, formerly of Chloe

Iwana Fern Deel, 88, of Parkersburg WV, formerly of Chloe WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 6, 2016.

Fern was born on November 20, 1927 at Minnora WV to the late Perry Edward and Greeta Madge Baker Knotts.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Eugene Deel; and three brothers, Ronald E. "Tommy" Knotts, Harry "Bud" Knotts, and Carroll Knotts.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Eugene Deel; one son Ricky (Thomasina) Deel of Paris TN; and one daughter Cheryl (Terry) Hersman of Ripley WV; six grandchildren Betsi (Dustin) Foster of Paris TN, Billy (Denise) Deel of Milan TN, Megan (Roel) Flores of Austin TX, Jada (Chris) Williams of Ripley WV, Brandon (Kendra) Hersman of Washington WV, Darrin (Lauren) Hersman of Covington KY; nine great grandchildren, Scotty Bizeau, Jack and Persie Foster, Lucas Deel, Colson, Amaris, and Briley Williams, Brody and Korie Hersman; and one sister, Glenna Carpenter.

Throughout the years, Fern worked at the Robey Theater, Kellwood, and Southern States all in Spencer and also sold Avon, but mainly she was a homemaker. She was a fifty year member of the Eastern Star, Linden Chapter and former member of the Glamour Girls Red Hat Society. She was a devoted fundraiser for community projects, collector of pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House and was known as "the biscuit maker" in her camping club. She enjoyed helping Gene with their annual Christmas display, going to Nashville and meeting the stars, and loved to shop.

Fern was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening, 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Minnora Cemetery.
