FEW DETAILS RELEASED ABOUT ALLEGED GANDEEVILLE MURDER - Morris Had Local Arrest Record

UPDATE - Police have released few details about a man allegedly shot to death at a residence near Gandeeville Monday night.

John Edward Morris, 52, was found dead when State Police and the Roane County Sheriffs Department arrived about 8:30 p.m.

Spencer Newspapers say public records indicate Morris had traffic and misdemeanor violations in Roane Magistrate Court starting in 2008, including speeding, possession of a controlled substance, open container of alcohol and DUI.

The newspaper said a search indicated the man had formerly lived in Michigan and Illinois.

Funeral arrangements are being completed at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home.

ORIGINAL STORY - West Virginia State Police have released the name of the man found dead inside a home in the Roane County community of Gandeeville Monday night.

Police say they are investigating the death of John Edward Morris, believed to have been in his 50's.

Morris was found dead at a home on Coon Creek Road in Gandeeville.

Sources close to the scene said he died of a gunshot wound.

According to state police, foul play is suspected.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner's office.

Police responded to a 911 call Monday evening, discovering the man's body.

No other details are available.
