Violet L. Taylor, 84 - Spencer

Violet L. Taylor, 84, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley, after an extended illness.

She was born November 26, 1931 at Countsville, a daughter of the late Flava and Gearldie Moore Good.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Woodrow C. "Woody" Taylor on July 13, 2011.

Violet was a long time florist in Spencer. She began her career with Leonard Starcher at the former Spencer Floral and continued working for Dudley's Floral when they acquired the business. In 1986, she, her husband, Woody and son, Bernard started in business for themselves as Taylor's Floral, where she continued to work with Bernard until 2013.

She was a 1949 graduate of Walton High School. She enjoyed fishing and traveling. Animals were an important part of her life; she especially enjoyed the company of her pugs, 'Piglet' and 'Zoey'.

Survivors include her son, Bernard C. Taylor and his fiancée, Jenny of Spencer.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Robert E. Underwood officiating. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery, Gandeeville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
