FEDERAL MARSHALS CONDUCT CALHOUN ROAD CHECK ON RT. 16 - Braxton Man Charged With Malicious Assault/Wounding

What appeared to be federal marshals conducted a road check on passing motorists in Calhoun Saturday afternoon, with officers in three vehicles.

The officers were checking on Rt. 16, a short distance south of Calhoun Middle-High School.

The officers were armed with pistols and rifles.

No information was available regarding the traffic stops.

A Braxton man was charged with malicious assault and wounding Saturday. Ethan Scott McCourt, 27, was also charged with grand larceny, violation of a domestic violence order and destruction of property.

He is in Central Regional Jail with bond yet to be set.

Roane authorities have charged James Benton Holbert, Jr. with ten offenses. He is in Central Regional Jail with bond yet to be set.

He is charged with brandishing, domestic assault, domestic battery, prohibited person with a firearm, driving suspend/revoked, obstructing, no MVI, no insurance and no seat belt.

Calhoun State Police arrested Richard Lee Poling, 48, early Sunday morning following a vehicle crash at Millstone and charged him with DUI-1st. He is in Central Regional Jail.

Braxton authorities arrested Kenneth Bookheimer, 51, and charged him with violation of home confinement. He is in Central Regional Jail.

Wesley Ryan Williams, 32, has been charged by Ritchie authorities with possession with intent to deliver. He is in North Central Regional Jail.
