A NIGHT AT THE OPERA - January 11th Free Event

The Arnoldsburg's Lights On! monthly trip to a cultural event has been a great success! Forty area residents enjoyed a wonderful performance of "The Nutcracker" Sunday afternoon at the Charleston Municipal Auditorium.

From the battle between mice and soldiers to the Dance of the Snowflakes, the show provided an afternoon of entertainment, and a great way to get in the mood for the holiday season. Comments on surveys of people attending the show included "It was a wonderful experience," "My first show, I enjoyed it" and "liked it very well" (to name a few).

I think some of the people who took the trip saw it as a chance to try something different. One of our goals is simply to try something we might not have tried in the past.

We continue our program with a January trip to an opera. Mozart's "Cosi Fan Tutte," is a comedy, and the good news is it's in English. Individuals who attended the Nutcracker who plan on going to the opera stated they would like to eat at an Italian restaurant before the show. We will stop at the Olive Garden at the Charleston Town Center (people may eat at another establishment in the area).

The trip is a Lights On! activity and tickets and transportation are free (dinner will be on your own). An opera? Why not! Come and join us for a night on the town.

The bus leaves Arnoldsburg School on January 11, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. and the Minnora Community Center at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 8:00 p.m. Call 354-7595 or 655-8616 extension 103 to reserve your spot
