John David Short, 46 - Spencer

John David Short, 46, of Spencer, West Virginia, died at 7:31 p.m., Sunday April 10, 2016 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston.

He was born July 22, 1969 in Akron, Ohio. John was a graduate of College Park High School, Pleasant Hill, Calif. His hobbies included watching movies, collecting die cast cars and reading hot rod magazines.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Paul Smith of Spencer; father and stepmother, Marshall and Janet Short, Sr. of Lower Salem, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Ralph Stelmack of Spencer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marshall Short, Jr. of Longmont, Colo., Robert and Sheri Short also of Longmont, Colo., and Jeremy and Jennifer Ibbeson of Clarksburg W.Va.; maternal grandfather and step grandmother, Homer and Faye Starkey of Akron, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ibbeson, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Walter C. and Mae Alice Short; maternal grandmother, Betty Hicks.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Russell B. Stump officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
