CALHOUN SCHOOLS ANNOUNCE YOUNG WRITER WINNERS

The West Virginia Young Writers Contest was developed to provide students with practice using the writing process.

The goal of the program is to make sure that all schools and teachers are aware of this important opportunity for our West Virginia students to participate in celebrating writing and writers.

This contest supports the important literacy and writing initiative of preparing career and college ready students and fosters a love of expression characteristic of lifelong learners and writers.

County Winners:

Hunter Marks, son of Eric and Sara Marks. Title of his entry Summer Vacation.

Turner Garretson, son of Curt and Kristin Garretson. Title of his entry The Biggest Game of My Life. Turner's entry was selected as the state winner for 3 & 4 grade.

Krista Dye, daughter of David and Crystal Dye. Title of her entry Infinity Means Forever.

Kelcie Wilson, daughter of Lyle and Rebecca Wilson. Title of her entry The Young Astronaut.

Trenton Cunningham, son of Jason and Melissa Cunningham. Title of his entry The Legacy.

Hannah Allen, daughter of James and Stephanie Allen. Title of her entry The Necklace.

The students, parents, and selected teachers are invited represent to Calhoun County on May 13 at the University of Charleston.
