MCDOWELL MURDER - McDowell County deputies arrested Woody Wood Jr., 36, Saturday after they said he killed his wife, Rebecca Wood and buried her in his basement.

A release said the sheriff's office received a call that Rebecca had not been seen for several days and that Woody Wood may be a person of interest in the case.

After obtaining a search warrant, deputies searched the Wood's home and found that Woody had killed Rebecca and buried her in the basement in what deputies are calling a "horrific case".

Woody was arrested and has been charged with first degree murder.

ELKINS SHOOTING - Chief Craig Cross of the Elkins Police Department says an injured man accidentally shot himself during an incident.

Elkins police are investigating after a reported shooting behind a bar Monday morning.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. behind Lexy's Bar, according to Randolph County 911 officials.

Witnesses saw two people running away from the scene, according to 911 officials. One of them was wearing a mask.

BLACKSVILLE ROBBERY - State Police are investigating an apparent armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store in Blacksville.

According to a press release, a white man wearing a dark gray sweatshirt and blue jeans entered the store just after midnight Monday with two knives in each hand.

Police say the suspect demanded money and cigarettes. The suspect then apparently went behind the counter, grabbed two packs of Marlboro cigarettes and the store clerk handed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register to the suspect.

The man then ran out the door and headed east on Mason Dixon highway.

Troopers are still searching for the suspect.
