(04/04/2016)
It was a roaring wind.

Winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour swept across the area Saturday evening downing trees and power lines.

The electric company reported 200 outages at 11 p.m. Saturday, with service restored Sunday morning.

The Grantsville VFD responded to Brooke Lane at 7 p.m. just off East Kanawha Highway (Rt. 5), just east of Grantsville, to a power line down causing a small fire.

Another report a short time later said a tree was down on a line on Vaughan Road.

The Arnoldsburg VFD was dispatched to a power line problem on US 33/119 in the Letherbark area at 9:22 p.m.

Numerous other trees were reported downed by the wind, some in roadways, around the county.
