Doris Weaver Griffith, 83 - Lancaster SC

(04/01/2016)
Doris Weaver Griffith completed her journey to her eternal home on March 31, 2016. Her final hours were spent surrounded by her family, singing "Amazing Grace" and reading her favorite Psalms.

She was born on March 8, 1933, the daughter of Frank D. Weaver and Mabel Rothwell Weaver in Grantsville, WV. She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Van Wyck, SC.

Her new birth into the kingdom of Christ occurred at an early age for Doris. She grew up and spent her entire life growing in faith in Christ. Her death was not shrouded in fear or sadness. Rather, knowing that to be absent from the body was to be present with Christ, she looked forward without fear to her complete union with Him. She is now present with Jesus and all of her family and friends who have also died in Christ.

Doris and her late husband Ron were active in the Gideon's for over thirty years. She served as state president of the Gideon's Auxiliary in the early 80's. She loved music and enjoyed singing gospel and choral music in various groups in her native West Virginia and in her present local church. For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give His life a ransom for many. Doris' love for Jesus was expressed in service to others.

Doris' legacy of faith is evident in the lives of her survivors. Her son Mark Patrick Griffith is a pastor. Her daughter-in-law Elizabeth McKoy Griffith is a faithful servant of Jesus and His church. Her beloved, grand-daughter, Hannah Griffith loves her Lord and faithfully hides His word in her heart. She has pastors and faithful church members among her many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her four brothers, Ernest Weaver, Lauren Weaver, Delbert Weaver, and Donald Weaver, and her infant sister Virginia Elizabeth Weaver.

A celebration of her faith and life will be held Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Van Wyck. The Reverend Dieter Paulson will preside over the worship service.
