FIVE YEAR OLD SPENCER GIRL RECOVERING FROM PIT BULL MAULING - "Viciously Attacked"

A 5-year-old Spencer girl is recovering in a Charleston hospital after suffering serious injuries and mauling from an attacking pit bull last Saturday.

Reports said she was "viciously attacked," suffering "many cosmetic injuries to her face and head, as well as a broken arm and wrist."

The report said, "She underwent surgery to repair her facial wounds. She has a long road to recovery and will face many surgeries and challenges ..."

Spencer Newspapers reports that the Spencer Elementary pre-school girl, identified as Breanna Green, was attacked by the pit bull at a neighbors house, Sheriff Todd Cole indicated the animal was tied up.

Cole said she was playing at the residence when the attack happened.

Roane Humane Officer Tanya Hicks said the dog was destroyed and is being tested for rabies.

3/28/16 - Roane County authorities say a young girl was seriously injured after a dog attacked and bit her.

Roane 911 said the call came in between 8 and 9 p.m. Saturday night.

The extent of her injuries and condition is not yet available.

The dog has been captured and taken to the Roane Animal Shelter.

The Roane County Sheriff's Office and West Virginia State Police responded to the scene.
