19-YEAR-OLD WOMAN DIES IN FIERY CRASH IN ROANE

UPDATE 3/24/2016 - The Times Record/Roane County Reporter says efforts by motorists, neighbors, Sheriff Todd Cole and the victims boyfriend, who was following in another car, failed to extract a 19-year-old woman who was entrapped in a burning car.

Reports said numerous fire extinguishers were used in an attempt to douse the flames.

The two vehicle accident happened on US 33 west of Spencer.

The victim was identified as Breanna Bumgardner of Raleigh County.

Also injured in the other vehicle was a 16-year-old Reedy girl who was life-flighted to a medical center.

Responders and police were on scene for several hours, while the highway was closed.

UPDATE 2/23 - Roane authorities have yet to confirm reports that a female driver in a two-vehicle crash on US 33 west of Spencer died in the accident Tuesday.

Reports said the car which she was driving reportedly burned up, while she was entrapped in the vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle was life-flighted to a medical center.

10:50 AM 2/22 - Roane 911 dispatched multiple fire departments and ambulances to a two-vehicle collision on Ripley Rd. (US 33 west of Spencer near Stover Fork) about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday.

The Spencer-Roane VFD was on scene extinguishing a fire that erupted following the crash, with reports saying there was entrapment.

Reports indicate at least one person was taken from the accident, reportedly to be life-flighted to a medical center.

At 11:15 a.m. traffic was be re-routed around the US 33 crash.
