Earnest Cottrell, 92, of Little Hocking, Ohio, died at the Camden Clark Medical Center on February 22, 2016.

He was born in Calhoun County, W.Va. on January 25, 1924 and was the son of the late William R. And Tilda Marks Cottrell.

He retired from the City Iron & Metal as a crane operator. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Patty (Ron) Tyson of Coolville; stepchildren, Mrytle (Roger) Hendrickson of Little Hocking, Donnie (Kathy) Potts of Little Hocking; step grandchildren, Michele (Jamie) Snyder of Coolville, Derek Fox of Marietta. Also surviving are grandchildren, Gary (Shaya) Sealey Jr. of Coolville, April Sealey of Biloxi, Miss., Brandie (Corey) Buchanan Bowers of Coolville; stepgrandchildren, Christina F. (Steven) Young of Moxahala, Ohio and Ronald (Tasha) Tyson II of Gallipolis, Ohio; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Goldie (William) Rush of Orma, W.Va. and Effie Mae Wallbrown of Crummies Creek, W.Va.; and a brother, Shirley (Jane) Cottrell of Amboy, Ind.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Geraldine F. Carpenter Cottrell and Mary L. Potts Cottrell; a stepdaughter; a stepgrandson; and eight brothers and sisters.

Services will be at noon on Saturday, at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. Burial will be in the Liberty Hill Cemetery at 3 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. American Legion Post #15 will conduct military rites at the funeral home.
