Charles Ruffner "Charlie" Koone, 83 - Spencer

Charles Ruffner "Charlie" Koone, 83, of Spencer, West Virginia died February 17, 2016 at Charleston Area Medical Center's Memorial Division in Charleston, West Virginia.

Charlie was born August 30, 1932 in Harvey, West Virginia a son of the late William and Athalene Cooke Koone.

He worked for Patch 21 in Spencer and formerly worked as an independent contractor doing painting and wallpapering and was a former diesel mechanic. He served in the US Army as a military policeman.

He is survived by three children, Charles R. Koone, Jr. of Spencer, R. Susan Maha and her husband, Gary, of Batavia, New York, and Kevin W. Koone of Cheektowaga, New York; four grandchildren, Charles Koone III, Kelly Krile, Catherine Maha and Rachel Koone; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Krile and Carlie Koone; and his siblings, Barbara, Gayle, Virginia, Betty Lou, Audrey, David and Kathy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gae Knopp Koone and a brother, William.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Rev. Jackie Roberts officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Spencer beside his wife. Visitation will be three hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
