Harlan Hal Simmons, 79 - Parkersburg

Harlan Hal Simmons, 79, of Parkersburg, passed away on Jan. 30, 2016 at Parkersburg Care Center.

He was born June 19, 1936, in Calhoun Co., W.Va., a son of the late Oria B. and Wilma M. Whipkey Simmons.

Harlan was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam. He was a West Virginia native who traveled the US selling steel building dealerships, among many other types of businesses.

He knew so many people and was loved by his family and friends very much.

He is survived by his children, Patricia E. Simmons of Parkersburg, Harlan H. Simmons Jr. of Marietta, Ohio and Kevin B. Simmons of Parkersburg; 15 grandchildren including Daniel Ray Bush II and Keri Laftch, and Jessica and Josh Simmons; four brothers, Oria Blain Jr., Larry Gay, Mickey Jo and Rickey Lee; five sisters, Ina Evelyn, Linda Sue, Lois Ann, Shirley Louise, and Jessica Louise; the mother of his children, Evelyn Louise Simmons Science; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mildred Simmons; son, Kevin Blaine "Jesse James" Simmons; brothers, James Carol, Wayne Morgan and Howard, and one sister, Alberta.

Harlan donated his body to the WV Human Gift Registry in Morgantown.
