Brenda J. Carpenter, 74, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, West Virginia. She was born July 22, 1941 in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Charles and Edith Lattimer Hickman. She was a homemaker. Brenda is survived by her husband, Edward L. Carpenter; stepdaughters, Sheryl and Pat Roub of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Vicky and Bobby Jarvis II of Spencer; two sisters, Barbara and Mitchell Hemby of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Gerri and Jim Powers of Ripley, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Dalton Jarvis, and Toby, Clair, and Christine Roub; and five great-grandchildren, Molly, Maddie and Max Powell and Tyler and Kayla Roub. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bryn Powell and a sister, Terri Wilson. Service will be at 11:00am on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with Rev. Danny Whited officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Spencer. Visiting is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
