HUGHES FILES AGAINST MAGISTRATE DAVIS FOR SEAT - County Filing Slowed, Last Minute Flurry Expected

The only person filing for county office so far this week is Jim Hughes of Mt. Zion/Millstone.

Hughes is filing against a seat currently held by Laura Davis, who is also running for the position.

There are new filing stipulations related to running against a specific magistrate position, with two slots in Calhoun County.

Magistrate and all court races in West Virginia are now non-partisan, the winners to be determined in the primary.

The deadline for filing for office is Saturday.

So far, no one has filed for a second open seat for school board.

There is generally a number of last minute filings for positions.
