GOV. TOMBLIN DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY - Drivers Urged To Stay Off Roads, Calhoun Responders Preparing

With snow falling Calhoun responders are preparing, including putting chains on fire trucks and snow plows already clearing roads.

Officials asking motorists to stay off the roads, with whiteouts expected in some areas Friday evening.

West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has declared a state of emergency due to this weekend's snowstorm.

The declaration Friday activates state resources to address winter conditions and keep residents safe. The West Virginia National Guard, Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety and the Department of Transportation are among those activated to help.

A state of emergency does not restrict travel.
