STORE EMPLOYEE SHOOTS INTRUDER - Police are on scene of a shooting in Fort Gay store, the Pit Stop.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department arrested James Daniel Hicks, 39, who has residences in both Logan and Parkersburg.

Deputies say a key holder/employee of the convenience store got a notification that an alarm was going off.

When they got there, they say they found a man inside the store packing up merchandise and putting it into a bag.

Deputies say the suspect and the employee then got into a confrontation and the employee then shot the man.

According to investigators, Hicks was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

They say the alarm went off there Thursday night. During that incident, deputies say someone tried to steal the ATM, when the suspect took off on foot.

Police believe Hicks was connected that attempt.
