POCAHONTAS COUNTY DRILLS CALHOUN IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, 83-59

Pocahontas placed four players in double figures to down Calhoun, 83-59, in the championship game of the Doddridge Invitational Tournament Tuesday night.

The Warriors, 3-3, broke open a close game in the third quarter with a 26=point outburst that put the Red Devils in a hole they were never able to climb out of.

Ryan Dilley led Pocahontas with 19. He was joined by J.D. Hensler and Braxton Rider with 16 apiece and Brier Wilfong with 10 as double figure scorers.

Chad Friel added seven, Drake Warder five, Brady Jones and Logan Dilley four each and Danny Kimble two.

For Calhoun, 3-2, Dylan Heiney led the way with 16. He was backed by Ethyn Miller with 13 and Zack Yanero with 10. Caden Hicks chipped in with six while Austin Gribble added five, Ben Frederick four, Soney Wilson three and Trevor Carder two. Dakoya Jarvis did not score in the game although he tied Yanero for the team lead in rebounds with 10.

Calhoun placed two on the All-Tournament team as Miller and Yanero were honored. Others named were Dalton Westfall of Liberty, Drew Lett of Doddridge and Hensley, Ryan Dilley and Jones of Pocahontas.

Calhoun is idle until next year when it plays host to Wirt County on Jan. 2, 2016.
