William C. "Bill" Wright, 89 - Spencer

William C. "Bill" Wright, 89, of Spencer, died Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the Parkersburg Care Center, Parkersburg.

He was born January 10, 1926, at Stringtown, Roane County, a son of the late Lonnie Wright and the late Virginia Lowe Wright Wine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Kay Wright in 1951; a granddaughter, Michelle Murnahan; two brothers and three sisters.

Bill was a former auto mechanic who had worked for Board Brother's Garage, Crihfield Motors and Reed-Rhodes Motors, all of Spencer. He was also a retired teacher from the Roane-Jackson Vocational School. After his retirement, he worked on lawn mowers and other small engine repairs. Bill was a Navy veteran of WWII and the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose and attended the Spencer Tabernacle.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Dollie M. Wright; children, Lt. Col. Larry Wright, USAF Ret and his wife, Lynn of Fairfax, Va., Donna Johnson of Parkersburg, Robert Wright and his wife, Sandra of Parkersburg; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Daniel R. Whited and the Rev. Loren Price officiating.

Burial will be in the Swank Cemetery, Spencer. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
