CALHOUN NATIVE SHARON YOAK TURNER WILL HAVE INSPIRATIONAL BOOK SIGNING WEDNESDAY - Calhoun Historical Society Wednesday

(12/23/2015)
Sharon Yoak Turner, a native of Calhoun County, will be holding a book signing at the Calhoun Historical Society on Main Street in Grantsville, WV, on Wednesday, December 23rd from 3-6 p.m.

Turner is a Christian author who has written two books that actually take place in Calhoun County. As a child, she wanted to read books about Calhoun County with names she recognized, but never found even one.

"So as an adult, she wrote these books with names as familiar as Leaf Bank and others with the idea that children of today will be able to read those books she so wanted as a child," said Turner. Her love for oral history is shown in her stories that were handed down through the generations regarding the Civil War and other matters she has heard over the years.

It is her wish that you will stop by the Calhoun Historical Society and share your family's stories with her as well. Hopefully, some of the stories will make it into book three, that she is currently working on.

The books are about life in Calhoun County, and are set at Christmastime, which makes them perfect Christmas gifts for friends and loved ones.

Visitors can also tour the Historical Society Museum to see the history of Calhoun.
