PARSONS ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT - Described As Dangerous Situation

(12/07/2002)
George Nicholas "Nick" Parsons, 28, of Grantsville has been charged with domestic assault in Calhoun Magistrate Court. Parsons was involved in a family squabble early Thursday morning which reportedly turned violent.

The incident happened at a mobile home on Sugar Camp Road, just off Yellow Creek.

Jeremy Collins, a brother-in-law to Parsons, was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center by Calhoun EMS, suffering from a hand wound. Parsons was also injured, but refused transport to the hospital.

Sherry Parsons, wife of Nick Parsons, was present with children when a 12-guage sawed-off shotgun was fired in the dwelling. Knives may have played a part in some injuries, according to authorities.

Sheriff Allen Parsons said the dispute escalated in the early morning hours and "the situation became very dangerous."

Sheriff Parsons, Deputy Carl Ballengee and Trooper Fred Hammack entered the residence after Collins was taken to the hospital, and Parsons was taken into custody.

The charges were filed by the State Police.
