Community Foundation Announces Fall Grants

Parkersburg, WV - The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation & Regional Affiliates (PACF) recently awarded $249,334 in grant support through its fall Community Action Grant Program. $3,200 of the funding came from the Foundation's regional affiliate fund, Doddridge County Community Foundation. This competitive grant application program provides monetary support to charitable organizations and projects within the Foundation's 11-county service area (Calhoun, Gilmer, Doddridge, Roane, Wirt, Wood, Ritchie, Jackson, Mason, and Pleasants Counties in West Virginia and Washington County, Ohio).

On Tuesday, December 8, representatives of organizations receiving funding from the PACF attended a fall grant award program at the Foundation's Center for Philanthropy in Parkersburg. Minnie Hamilton Health Care System was among the 33 groups that received support. A $5,000 grant to Minnie Hamilton will help the Calhoun Recreation and Development Center Collaborative develop a youth basketball program. Earlier this year, Minnie Hamilton also received an $800 grant from the Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation, a regional affiliate of the PACF, for the same project.

Grants awarded through the PACF's Community Action Grant Program are made possible by generous individuals/businesses who have established a charitable fund with the PACF. The Program uses the resources available through the Foundation's Unrestricted and Field of Interest Funds to meet the ever-changing needs of its service region. The Foundation works with volunteers region-wide to review the grant applications and select the recipients. Additionally, the Foundation consults with individuals established Donor Advised Funds through the PACF and works with these individuals to provide additional grant support for the projects proposed through the Community Action Grant Program.
