WIND ADVISORY; FOREST FIRE THREAT REMAINS HIGH WEDNESDAY

(11/18/2015)
State foresters say the the threat of forest fires remain high this week in the Mountain State.

There is a wind advisory of area Wednesday 40-50 mph gusts.

There is a large brush fire burning at Maysel, Clay County.

The main culprit for last weeks fires focused on strong winds falling trees onto power poles, although a large Calhoun fire appeared to start near a gas well head.

Last week rains of Wednesday pre-dawn quickly evaporated by high winds that followed Thursday and Friday.

Controlled burning during fire season in West Virginia starts at 5 PM and ends at 7 AM, with a number of restrictions.

With another spell of warm, dry, windy Indian Summer due this week, the most severe fire conditions may be ahead.
