Martha Jean Ferrell, 73 - Ripley

Martha Jean Ferrell, 73, of Ripley WV, formerly of Spencer WV, died November 4, 2015, at the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, after an extended illness.

She was born June 30, 1942, at Kettle, a daughter of the late Ferman Edward and Mattie J. Parsons Fields. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Rex and Jimmy Workman.

Martha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former employee of Kellwood and the Roane County Community Action Program where she worked with young children. Martha enjoyed playing bingo.

Survivors include her husband, Poncho Ferrell of Ripley; three sons, J.D. Workman of Rockport, Jesse Workman of Ripley and Teddy Workman of York, S.C.; two daughters, Brenda Wentz of Fairplain and Belinda Cochran of Ripley; four brothers, Frank Fields of Sissonville, Howard, Rick and Larry Fields all of Spencer; one sister, Debbie Stewart of Cottageville; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Walton. Friends may visit one hour prior to the funeral.
