STARCHER DIES FROM INJURIES - Injured On 4-Wheeler Getting Deer

60-year-old Gary "Cook" Starcher of Sam's Run, Calhoun County has died Saturday, November 30th in Charleston Area Medical Center from injuries he received Monday when his 4-wheeler crashed in a remote area near the Calhoun-Roane Line.

Local resident Curt Helmick helped rescue Starcher. He reported the man suffered severe head and internal injuries, with a loss of consciousness. Starcher had killed a buck deer near his home and returned to get his 4-wheeler. After he did not return, his wife called for help.

Starcher underwent surgery Thursday, having his lung removed, according to a family spokesperson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.Tuesday at the Taylor-Vandle Funeral Home in Spencer, with burial in the Wayne Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
