West Virginia State Police arrested William Raymond Hardman II, 18, of Glenville and charged him after he allegedly fired multiple shots through a window with a shotgun and wounded the father of his girlfriend.

The incident happened about 4 a.m. last Wednesday (Sept. 30) a criminal complaint indicating the shooting was over the father interfering with a romantic relationship between Hardman and his 14-year-old daughter.

Hardman has been charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit a felony, and is in Central Regional Jail with bond set at $500,000.

When police arrived at the residence, they discovered David Asa Finley, 43, in a pool of blood on his living room floor with at least two gunshot wounds. He was taken to Ruby Memorial.

On the way to the scene, officers spotted a female juvenile running down US 33 and picked her up, and identified her as Finley's 14-year-old daughter.

Findley, who was conscious when officers arrived, said he had yelled at his daughter for allegedly being on-line with her 18-year-old boyfriend.

According to the criminal complaint, Findley had been in a dispute over his daughter dating the older boy, that she had "snuck off" with Hardman before.

Police discovered a back pack filled with clothing and a cell phone, the compliant indicated the juvenile girl had intended to run away with her boyfriend.

The complaint says cell phone messages suggested that Hardman would kill the girl's father and steal the family vehicle.

Hardman, according to the complaint, said that he planned to kill both Finley and his wife.
