(09/15/2015)
A just released audit says the West Virginia Department of Education underfunded 36 county school systems by $52 million over seven years, while overfunding 19 counties by $22 million.

Calhoun County was overfunded by $277,250 between 2008-2013.

The WV legislative auditor's office says the Department of Education didn't follow the school aid formula, causing a net underfunding of $30.1 million in budget years 2009 through 2015.

The most over-funded was Monongalia, receiving an extra $1.4 million and the most underfunded was Kanawha by $5.3 million.

Pocahontas was underfunded by $1,103 per pupil and Hardy was overfunded by $436 per student, in the per pupil funding using the state's funding formula.
