Gary Hickman Bailey, 70 - Parkersburg

Gary Hickman Bailey, 70, of Parkersburg, passed away Sept. 13, 2015, at his residence.

He was born April 20, 1945, and grew up at Altizer, Calhoun County, a son of the late Oris W. and Vera F. Hickman Bailey.

He graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1963. He received his B.A. Degree from Glenville State College, his Master's Degree from Ohio University at Athens, Ohio, and his Superintendent Certificate from West Virginia University.

Gary retired from the Wood County Board of Education and was principal at Greenmont School for 38 years. He enjoyed farming, hunting and he loved his family dearly. He was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Connie J. Wilson Bailey; one daughter, Heather Bailey of Parkersburg; two sons, Reggie Bailey (Wendy) of Belpre, Ohio, and Seth Bailey of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Charlotte and Carson Bailey; and special nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Siers.

Funeral services for Gary will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Beth Peters and the Rev. Loren Price officiating.Burial will follow in Gibson-Westfork Cemetery in Calhoun County. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Housecalls Hospice, especially to Missy and Kim for their special care.
