A Calhoun man has been sentenced to jail by Judge David W. Nibert in Roane Circuit Court, for his latest DUI offense.

Court officials said John D. Hickman, 61, of Idlewild Drive, Grantsville, has had a long history of DUI offenses, but has not served jail time.

Judge Nibert said Hickman had a 40-year criminal history likely related to drinking.

Hickman plead guilty in Roane County to misdemeanor DUI and driving while his license was revoked DUI-3rd offense, a felony.

Judge Nibert sentenced Hickman to 1-3 years in prison on the felony charge, with credit for four days already served.

Nibert indicated he could serve a part of his sentence on home confinement. He was fined $3,000.
