David E. Wood, 71 - Reedy

David E. Wood, 71, of Reedy, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

He was born December 28, 1943, at Reedy, a son of the late Thomas Andrew and Mary Mildred McCutcheon Wood.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Eleanor Criner Wood, whom he married February 4, 1967; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Julie Wood of Ravenswood; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and William Burley, Jr. of Madison, Va.; five grandchildren, Audry, Matthew, Brooke, Alex and Jordan; brothers and sisters-in-law, James A. and Freida Wood of Spencer WV, Paul and Gretchen Wood of Heber Springs, Ark., Richard and Brenda Wood of Gandeeville WV, and Kenneth and Barbara Wood of Canal Winchester, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Mike Nappi of Decatur, Ala.; many nieces and nephews.

David was the owner and operator of David E. Wood General Contractors for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Gilboa Baptist Church who served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was an Army veteran and a former member of the Moriah Lodge No. 38. His hobbies and interests included salt water fishing, hunting, woodworking, reading and travel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29 at the Gilboa Baptist Church, Reedy, with the Rev. Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, Reedy. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorial donations are preferred to Gilboa Baptist Church, P.O. Box 437, Spencer, WV 25276 or Rosenbaum Family House, 30 Family House Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506. Envelopes will be available at the church.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is assisting the family with arrangements.
