CALHOUN CIRCUIT COURT HAS SEVEN CRIMINAL CASES

Calhoun Circuit court was in session Monday with Judge Thomas Evans III presiding.

Christopher Lamp appeared for sentencing on his conviction of unlawful assault, a felony. He was appointed a new attorney due to the illness of his previous counsel. His case was set again for sentencing on September 17th, according to Prosecutor Shannon Johnson.

Leon Kerby appeared for sentencing on his conviction of misdemeanor child abuse resulting in injury and for a bond revocation hearing. He was appointed a new attorney due to the illness of his former counsel. After a reviewed pre-sentence investigation, Kerby was sentenced to four months in the regional jail. His bond revocation case is set for October 1st.

Prosecutor Johnson said Justin Knight appeared and entered a guilty plea to grand larceny, a felony. His case is set for sentencing on October 26th after a pre-sentence investigation.

Joshawa Whipkey appeared for a pre-trial hearing on charges of possession of precursors to manufacture methamphetamine and conspiracy. He was appointed a new attorney. His case was set for October 26th for a pre-trial hearing and November 17th for a jury trial.

Allen Nelson's case involving malicious wounding and arson charges was continued until the court reviewed a competency evaluation which had not yet been received. Nelson's case is set for a status hearing on September 17th.

Jeffrey Radabaugh entered a guilty plea to delivery of a controlled substance, a felony. He will be sentenced on October 26th following a pre-sentence investigation.

James Blankenship and Mary Parsons appeared on charges of delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy. Their trial was continued to November 17th.

There were also fourteen juvenile hearings on the docket.

The next court date is September 1st, at which time Judge Thomas Evans will preside over a Grand Jury.
