On Saturday a driver lost control of his chariot at Annamoriah hitting a pile of dirt, likely part of the state road ditch work, flipping and taking out an electric pole. The passenger got a helicopter ride from the location of the former Brooksville school with present status unknown.

A big search was underway the other afternoon on the old Petty place for a teen who was spotted walking down W. Va. 5. He ran to hide and/or escape and it was finally determined that he was behind the Wilma Mowrey residence. He was found in the river "gurgling". Steve Settles from the fire department went in the river and rescued the lad from what was likely certain death. The other day he was found at Foodland in Grantsville.

The Creston Area Neighborhood Watch held their regular meeting Monday evening and, among other things, tee shirts were discussed. Some of the members liked the one in the catalog with the big rebel flags with the writing Redneck Neighborhood Watch above the flag and the words You Loot We Shoot below the flag.

Gay Park has been having problems with her leg.

Mary Browning, age 73, of Reedsville Ohio passed away. She was the daughter of Russell and Mildred Nutter Rose.

The Wirt road crew put rock in the big wallow holes in the Richardsonville Road. The long arm mower went out Ground Hog to the Roane County line and mowed down the loaded peach trees. Talk about marauding morons! Apparently the "standards book" made by Broadway Joe & Earl Ray says no fruit trees along the roadways.

Re-pavement of W. Va. 5 between the Wirt County line and the Annamoriah bridge has commenced. Dump trucks with Texas tags were observed on the job. The other day a traveler in Pleasants County noted several of the Texas licensed trucks and hot mix was being put down without the benefit of tack. The legislative audit of the road department hasn't made much news for a while.

Financial prognosticators have been saying that October may be a very bad month for most folks as, apparently, the dollar will cease to be the world's reserve currency and the communist Chinese Yaun will 'take over'. Some have noted that "the Big Eared One's Recovery" was all done by printing of money with no backing and the financing of automobiles to folks who likely cannot pay may well bring about a new crash like 7 years back and, they point out, the financing of the shale oil & gas boom was also done in large part by the same means and that the fallout from the bust will be difficult, to say the least. Locally that would mean that one should have lots of potatoes in the cellar, lots of canned dear meat, plenty of dry beans, canned goods & other non-perishable food.

Common core and other educational boondoggles continue to make news as the fat cat educrats do not want anyone upsetting their lucrative applecart that makes certain that the youth are 'dumbed down' so they won't know the country is being destroyed. Since the presidential contest has become unscripted, there is more room for leadership on the national level to, among other things, shut down the US Dept. of Education that educates no one & the Dept. of Energy that generates no energy but greases lots of connected palms, such as Solyndra, Archer Daniels Midland's ethanol hoax, etc.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude has stabilized at $41.50/bbl. with condensate bringing only $17.50, Marcellus & Utica light $35.50 and medium $41.50/bbl.

The West Virginia Royalty Owners will be holding meetings on the forced pooling bill. The meeting will be at 6 p. m. on August 20 at the Moose lodge at 1607 DuPont Road in Parkersburg or at the former Best Western in Glenville on August 27. The group was dead set against forced pooling until someone came along & "made an offer someone couldn't refuse". It is understood that the new forced pooling bill will have somewhat different language.
