FORMER GLENVILLE LIBRARIAN INDICTED - Charged With Secretly Recording Employee

(11/22/2002)
The former librarian of Glenville State College has been indicted by a Gilmer County grand jury.

Ed Messenger, who has also been affiliated with emergency services in the county, will stand trial on a charge of "interception of communications," for secretly recording library employee Eileen Dixon in October, 2001.

The recordings were made at the Robert Kidd Library, without her knowledge or consent. Campus security officer Phil Huff discovered the recording device above some ceiling tiles in Dixon's office.

Presenting the case was special prosecutor Leslie Maze from Wirt County, after Gilmer Prosecutor Gerry Hough removed himself.

Messenger will likely be arraigned on December 9.
