Roger Franklin Frederick, 67, of Weston

Roger Franklin Frederick, 67, of Weston passed away on August 4, 2015 while fishing with his grandson on Stonewall Jackson Lake.

He was born at his home in Freed, WV on October 2, 1947, a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Frederick and Virgie May Richards Frederick.

On May 27, 1968 he married his high school sweetheart, the former Mary Susan Frum, and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Suzie, he is survived by one son, R. David Frederick and wife Melanie, and two granddaughters: Michala Jo Frederick and Rebecca Katherine Frederick, all of Lawrenceburg, KY; daughter-in-law, Melinda Frederick, and two grandsons: John Austin and Jacob Riley, all of Moorefield; three brothers: Dallas Frederick and wife Carlene, George Frederick and wife Patty, all of Grantsville, and Denzel Frederick and wife Linda of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Andrew "Andy" Frederick of Moorefield; three sisters: Lillian Frederick, Edna Jarvis and Eva Jean Sams, all of Calhoun County; mother and father-in-law, Ethel Jean Frum and Dick Frum of Weston.

Roger graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1965 and from Nashville Diesel College in 1966. He was an honored veteran of the United States Army, having served a tour in Vietnam in 1968. He then spent his working career as a heavy equipment mechanic, and retired from Cleveland Brothers in Bridgeport.

He loved above all things, his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He was an avid sportsman, deer hunter, and bird hunter. Blessed with a green thumb, he loved his garden and growing all things. He treasured his time spent with and training his four yellow labs, Stormy, Striker, Taffy, and Dawn, who will miss him dearly.

Roger's request for cremation has been honored and friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 11 am - 1 pm on Friday August 7, 2015.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1 pm from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ken Miller and Reverend Rick Bergdoll officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Weston 132 East Second St. Weston, WV 26452.
