Carrie Alice Criner Williams, 87 - Spencer

Carrie Alice Criner Williams, 87, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at home.

She was born January 15, 1928 in Roane County, a daughter of the late Homer Criner and Nora Smith Criner Dotson.

She was retired from Kellwood Company but worked mostly at Spencer Factory Outlet. She also worked at G.C. Murphy's in Spencer. She was a member of the Gilboa Baptist Church, the Grace Quartet where singing was her passion, and the Grace Community Farm Women's Club. She was the first woman on the Spencer Chamber of Commerce and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Butler of Reedy, West Virginia and Cheryl Summerfield of Spencer; six grandchildren, Steve Butler of Spencer, Amy and Todd Cole of Spencer, Ann Chapman of Reedy, Alex Hersman of Spencer, Chad and Amy Fry of Spencer, and Chris and Tammy Blosser of Spencer; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Otho Lee Williams; and brothers and sisters, Orland Criner, Harold Criner, Edna June Channels, and Robert Criner.

Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with Rev. Russell Stump officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
