William I. Lowther, 88 - Le Roy

William I. Lowther, 88, of Le Roy WV formerly of Vienna and Parkersburg WV died Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Eldercare Health and Rehabilitation, Ripley.

He was born April 12, 1927, at Cairo WV, a son of the late James and Bessie Plum Lowther.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ruth Litton Lowther, January 16, 2008; children, Roger Reed, Dean Reed and William Robert Lowther; sisters, Wilma Morris, Ruth Wilson, Mildred Carter and Thelma Fultz; brothers, Donald Lowther and John Eddie Lowther.

Mr. Lowther was a retired driller. He had formerly worked for Al Beard and Stonestreet Brothers. Later, he drilled water wells in Wisconsin for 14 years. He was a member of the I.U.O.E., Local 139, Milwaukee, Wis. and the Faith Baptist Church, Vienna. Also, he was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Dotson of Le Roy; a son, Jeffrey I. Lowther of Chicago, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Reed of Spencer; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer. Burial, with military honors accorded by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gay. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
