Ester L. Parsons, 90 - Mt. Zion

Ester L. Parsons, 90, formerly of Mt. Zion, WV, Calhoun County, passes away Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Worthington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Parkersburg, WV.

She was born May 20, 1926 at Clover, WV, Roane County, and was the last of 11 children born to the late Albert and Emma Webb Epling.

She attended Roane County school and Spencer High School with the class of 1944. She had a Vocational Degree from WV Tech and was Teacher of the Year in 1982.

She worked as a sewing supervisor at Spencer Mfg. Co. and a sewing supervisor and Quality Control Manager at Rubber Fabricators.

She retired from Calhoun Gilmer Career Center as an Industrial Sewing Instructor. She was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Member of Women's Society, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, 4H Leader, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and VICA Leader.

She loved to cook and sew for family and friends.

She is survived by daughters, Dianne (Joe) Law and Leslie Dawn (Jack) Messer; grandchildren, John Law, Susan Law, Ashton (Nicholas) Chaillan, and Colton Messer; 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters and her husband, Lloyd Parsons, Jr. in November 1983.

Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from noon-2 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the Clover Cemetery.
