Rev. Lee Williams brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. Church and served Holy Communion.

The big Creston ATV Poker Run is August 1 with signups from 9 A. M. 'til noon. Breakfast will be ready by 8 A. M. so one can come and have a fun filled day, see wild turkey, deer, wild flowers, rock cliffs and other scenic views & vistas. Also there will be plenty of mud for those who like to see what their chariots will [or will not] do.

Some folks with local connections are vacationing in Doddridge & Braxton Counties at the hotels that cost the counties much wampum.

A turn of dry weather has come to the Creston area and local folks and people elsewhere have been making hay in a big way. While Peanut got his second cutting up many are just getting to the first cutting.

Freddie Bush brought out a whole bunch of logs from his operation near Ball Knob while Danny Carpenter continues to haul for Greg Arthur.

The crows are eating many local apples.

Charles Russell was calling on Paris Parsons, Ray Gumm & brother Euell at the Miletree facility.

Fat Pat, the Oilfield Rat, is undergoing therapy at Miletree after a month long visit at Cabell Huntington hospital dealing with an infection and pneumonia. He noted that either the food was bad down in Huntington or else he was so sick he couldn't eat and noted that, while there, he lost 100 lb. He then stated that one of the cooks at Miletree was a family friend who could cook.

A significant number of Wirt County people attended the benefit dinner at the Mineral Wells school to purchase Bibles for those who lost all in the recent Mineral Wells area flood.

Jim & Barbara Bush had a nice crop of peaches.

A new store and carryout has opened along W. Va. 5 just before the Hupp residence. Shade Tree Woodworking is now Shade Tree Woodworking and Carryout. It was reported that one crew stops every morning on the way to work and gets three 12 packs to make it through the day.

The area Farm Bureau picnic will be Saturday, August 1, starting at 5 P. M. at Camp Sheppard which is on US 119 about 12 miles south of Spencer. There is a big arch and one then goes up the hill. Folks will hear about the EPA and their overreach on Waters of the United States and other agricultural problems. Also there will be many elected official there so one can talk about the forced pooling bill that the out of state companies want to impose on the state.

One local resident received last week an "ultimatum" letter from Noble saying that he had until August 3 to make a decision or else no deal.

Aubrey McClendon's company has sued a church because, apparently, they wanted better terms in a lease modification than were given in the original lease that dates from 1894. It was reported that Statoil which is an arm of the government of the Kingdom of Norway sued some people "after they refused a 'generous' offer of a 1/8th gross lease modification". Apparently King Harald's palace needed an upgrade and, besides, the big boys all got together and decided not to pay fair royalties to the West Virginia hillbillies.

A fellow who lives a couple of counties over had a tax 'problem' so he invested in a big well down in Louisiana. Not so long back he went down to land of Cajun & Creole cooking and while there talked about West Virginia and 1/8th leases. The folks there laughed and told him that there the law was that the royalty was a 1/4th minimum and were astounded that the companies were able to get away with such 'robbery' in West Virginia.

Local residents are having fun listening to the "talking heads" lament that Donald Trump is so popular in the presidential field. The Donald doesn't worry about being PC and folks are glad to hear someone, anyone, give honest, straight talk about illegal alien crime, RINO republicans and other 'sacred cows'. For sure he has outed frauds like Sen. McVain, Sister Lindsey Graham, little Jebbie Bush [who gave Madame Hillary over $200,000 for a speech as well as a 'freedom award"]. Then Ted Cruz tore into the head eunuch who rule the U. S. Senate and the House of Representatives and talk the talk and then do what the Big Eared One wants. Now, it has been learned that as part of the Iranian nuclear deal America is protect the Iranian terrorists and the bomb making facilities from Israel and perhaps even go to war with Israel to make sure that they do not wipe out those who want to finish Hitler's final solution.

The abortion parlour folks are upset that someone filmed them telling how they sell body parts from babies that they kill. American taxpayers give half a billion each year to the "providers" and we are supposed to go along like good little peasants and not interfere. Perhaps some might want to reread Jonathan Swift's "A modest proposal" & then, perhaps, Micah Chap. 7 or the entire text.

The Wirt County Fair starts on Wednesday, August 5 with the pageant and runs through Saturday. The livestock auction is Friday evening and the mud bog starts at 1 P. M. on Saturday.

There was some excitement when the oil truck got over the hill out on Owl Hill but Mike McFee, a skillful 'dozer operator, got the truck back in the road and the crude was hauled away.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil dropped to $47.14/bbl. with condensate (drip) fetching just $23.14 with Marcellus & Utica light bringing $41.14 and medium $47.14/bbl. Gasolene in Parkersburg has now dropped to under $2.50/gallon.
